CLIENT SPOTLIGHT - MOLLY TSCHANG
In my work as a lawyer, I have the great privilege of working with inspirational individuals and businesses. As we’re navigating work and life during this uncertain time, I thought it would be nice to profile some of my clients (with their permission, of course). I hope to promote their work and introduce you to some interesting content, services and products that you might be able to enjoy now, from wherever you are.
Effective communication is so hard, for so many of us. No matter how old we are, or the stage of our careers, or how successful, it’s often difficult to say what mean, or to ask for what we want.
Thankfully, effective communication isn’t hard for Molly Tschang. Molly is an executive advisor and coach, and through her work, routinely observed that most people aren’t comfortable having difficult discussions. As she recently explained to me: “Many people don’t know how to constructively share a minority viewpoint, or how to point out behaviors that have plenty of room for improvement. This became a sort of 'work injustice' to me as I saw so many people holding back what needed to be said because they literally didn’t have the words to ‘say it skillfully.’”
In an effort to pay it forward, Molly began posting 90-second videos on LinkedIn, teaching people how to effectively say the things that need to be said. Topics include telling your boss that you need more of their undivided attention, constructively warning a colleague that they may be near burnout, and asking for a raise.
The videos became extremely popular, and the Say It Skillfully brand was born. Molly’s videos have amassed more than a million views in a very short time, and she now hosts a radio show and podcast on the subject.
In these difficult times, being able to speak up in a constructive and skillful manner is more important than ever. I highly recommend Molly’s videos and podcast, which you can enjoy for free.
Take good care, and let’s continue to flatten the curve.
